Shenzhen Nanshan District Shekou People’s Hospital and Shenzhen Hospital of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, has become the first choice hospital of the foreigners and Hong Kong and Macao residents in Shenzhen when seeking medical services. It is the only comprehensive tertiary hospital in Shenzhen Qianhai FTZ, also the first comprehensive public hospital having JCI accreditation in South China, a teaching hospital of Guangdong province medical colleges, the joint education base of master postgraduate of Guangdong Medical College, the Guangdong province clinical education base of general practice medicine, the Guangdong province special archive general management unit, Shenzhen garden unit, the “Green Hospital” authorized by Shenzhen municipal government, and has been rated as the “Hong Kong citizens’ most reliable special clinical department in mainland” hospital by Hong Kong Ta Kung Pao many times. The hospital covers an area of 22,670.70 m2, with nearly 55,870 m2 construction area, and has 506 open beds. The new business building, invested by government, was put into use in the year of 2012. The service area of hospital is 65 km2, and service population is more than 500,000.

Shekou People’s Hospital has abundant medical resources, having more than 1,550 staff, 1,120 healthcare professionals, including 46 people of senior professional titles, and 181 people of deputy senior professional titles, among which, there are 9 doctors and 93 masters.

Currently in the hospital, there are 33 clinical departments (24 nursing units), which are cardiology dept., gastroenterology dept., respiration dept., endocrinology dept. (including diabetic treatment center), nephrology dept. (including hemodialysis center), neurology dept., infection dept., general surgery dept., thyroid & breast surgery dept., anorectal surgery dept., orthopedics dept., urology dept., neurosurgery dept., gynecology dept., obstetrics dept., pediatrics dept., neonatology dept., ophthalmology dept., ENT dept., dental dept., emergency dept., traditional Chinese medicine dept., rehabilitation dept., dermatology dept., anesthesia dept., intensive care unit (ICU), physical examination dept., pharmacy dept., laboratory dept., radiology dept., ultrasound diagnosis dept., pathology dept., special treatment center, Xiangya expert weekend clinic, Longjiang Han’s gynecology expert clinic and etc. 

Hospital introduced 3.0 T MRI machine first in the city, and now it is one of the most advanced superconducting type high magnetic field MR machine. Meanwhile, the hospital has general flat panel Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) with full digital screen, mobile DR, full digital breast X-ray filming system, high-end color ultrasound equipments (mainly IU-22 type), advanced GE color ultrasound equipment E9, electronic endoscopy systems, electronic bronchoscope, superficial varicosity TRIVEX system, hemodialysis system, automatic biochemistry analyzers, digital bedside X-ray machines and other advanced medical equipments. The hospital established the first pharmacy intravenous admixture service (PIVAS) in Shenzhen, introduced internationally-recognized “integrated ward cleaning and disinfection system” that could control hospital infection effectively from Germany.

Hospital has two 100-level ORs, two 1,000-level ORs and seven 10,000-level ORs, among which, two of them are the most advanced digital integrated ORs, equipped with C-arm, X-ran machine, laparoscope system, hysteroscope electric resection system, ballistic lithoclast, holmium laser lithotripter, plasma cutter, imported CUSA, high frequency electrotome, surgical microscope, fiber bronchoscope, Shikani and other advanced equipments, and they are the advanced, comprehensive and modern operating rooms with full equipments in Shenzhen City.

In order to meet the ever-growing medical service needs of the people, the hospital actively implements the “Three famous program of medical health care” from the government to establish cooperation with famous universities in China to promote discipline construction and hospital development. In 2011, our hospital signed medical cooperation contract with the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, and was named as “Shenzhen Hospital of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University”. With the great support from the Second Xiangya Hospital, the “diabetes diagnosis & treatment center” and “hemodialysis center” were gradually established, and Xiangya expert weekend clinic was established. In June, 2014, our hospital established medical technology cooperation with the First Hospital affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University, focusing on fiber bronchoscope. In December, 2014, our hospital was also named as the inheritance working station of “Longjiang Han’s Gynecology School”, which is the key discipline of national TCM gynecology of the First Hospital affiliated to Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine. The cooperation with universities improves hospital significantly in brand building, discipline development, medical technology and service level.

 

Meanwhile, since January 2009, hospital fully started international medical service quality evaluation program for global hospital quality evaluation (JCI accreditation), which is recognized by World Health Organization (WHO), and got JCI accreditation with high score in July, 2013, became the first comprehensive public hospital in South China, the tenth hospital in China that got JCI accreditation. The hospital is gradually developing towards the target of “international elite hospital” that matches the modern city.

 

The hospital is guided by people’s satisfaction. Through perfecting medical service environment, improving service attitude, shortening waiting time, increasing service appointment number and optimizing medical service process, the patient satisfaction is improved.

 

Medical quality is the core and basis of medical safety, and hospital regulates medical behaviors and improves inherent quality by monitoring the implementation of core medical policies. The hospital was awarded as “Shenzhen Medical Service Quality Evaluation Level A” during 2011-2014, and “No. 1 of the hospitals of the same level in Shenzhen City” during 2011-2012. In 2015, the hospital was ranked No. 4 in the “Shenzhen Medical Service Quality Evaluation” of 14 district-level tertiary hospitals.
